Do What You Love and Love What You Do

Last week on our live Periscope chat with Bobby Umar, Bobby addressed the topic of identifying skills vs. interests and how to not only know the difference between them, but how to merge the two together to seize your passion!

Just because we’re good at something doesn’t mean we love it, and just because we love something doesn’t mean we are good at it. In order to seize our passion and find our purpose it is important to identify which of our unique abilities and interests are similar and then find a way to bridge the two.

The first step to creating a passion is to start off by identifying what your interests are.What do you like to do? What do you yearn to do?

The second step is recognizing what your unique abilities are. What skills do you have? Are you a high-level thinker with specialized skills or are your skills more general and touch upon a broader range of aptitudes?

Before finding his passion purpose Bobby mentioned he felt as though he was more of a Jack-of-All-Trades rather than a Master-of-None, but when he specifically zeroed in on the unique abilities he was best at, such as his ability to network and connect with people, he was then able to hone in on merging his skills with his interests to truly find his passion purpose.

So why not take time to think about what you love to do day in and day out and then figure out how to implement the skills needed to do it? When you find the commonalities between your interests and skills you’ll be one step closer to seizing your passion!
